Porsche 911 Targa Launched in India; Prices Start at Rs 1.59 Crore

Porsche, the sports carmaker owned by Volkswagen Group, today launched the new-generation 911 Targa in India. The 911 Targa boasts the classic Targa concept with advanced roof technology. While keeping its design very close to the original 1965 model, the new 911 Targa also features contemporary sportiness of the seventh generation 911.
Anil Reddi, Director, Porsche India, says, "The 911 is a sports car which has won more races than any other and, in this latest evolution, I believe it has never looked more spectacular. In the 911 Targa, we see the ultimate in driving dynamics come together with stunning design and the very latest in ground-breaking roof technology. The car's arrival here in India signifies a new chapter in the legendary model's evolution and I am incredibly proud and excited to welcome it."
Like the original model, the new 911 Targa features a wide bar in place of the B-pillars, a movable roof section above the front seats and a wraparound rear window with no C-pillar. The roof segment on the new models can be opened and closed at the push of a button in just 19 seconds, as the fully automatic roof system stows the convertible top behind the rear seats to provide a real spectacle. The vehicle also gets Prosche Traction Management all-wheel drive system as a standard feature.

Available in two versions, the vehicle derives its power from the flat-six engines that are mated to an automatic 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 911 Targa 4 is powered by a 3.4-litre, 350bhp flat engine. With the optional Sport Chrono package, this model is claimed to touch 100Km/h from standstill in just 4.8 seconds while attaining a top-speed of 282Km/h.
The top-of-the-line model, the 911 Targa 4S, is powered by a 3.8-litre 400bhp engine. This model is even faster; it does 0-100Km/h in 4.4 seconds and can attain a top-speed of 296Km/h. The 911 Targa 4S can also be specified with the Carrera S Powerkit that boosts output by 30bhp.
