The 2015 Volvo XC90 will be the World's Most Powerful and Cleanest SUV

Volvo has released details about the engine lineup that will power the highly anticipated second generation XC90. The company describes it as the world's most powerful and cleanest SUV and we are not surprised, considering the amount of effort that the company has put into ensuring that the claim is valid.
The all-new Volvo XC90 will be offered with an array of 4-cylinder Drive-E engines which includes a D5 twin-turbodiesel rated at 225bhp and 470Nm. With this engine under its hood, the XC90 promises to provide a fuel consumption of around 6 litres / 100Km.
Then there is the D4, which punches out 190bhp and 400Nm torques and consumes approximately 5 litres / 100Km.

The XC90 will also be available with the petrol powertrains, which means the T6 turbocharged and supercharged engine with 320bhp and 400Nm, and the T5 with 254bhp and 350Nm on offer.
The 2015 Volvo XC90 will also be made available as a plug-in hybrid model wearing the T8 badge. It'll get a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged engine powering the front wheels and an 80bhp electric motor driving the rear axle. Combined output stands at 400bhp and 640Nm. On all-electric mode, the XC90 will have a range of 40km.
We've seen the interiors and now we have the engine options. That said, we now eagerly await a full reveal of the 2015 XC90 next month.
