What's New?
Suzuki Motorcycle India, Private Limited a wholly owned Indian subsidiary of Suzuki Japan launched the Intruder in 2017. Suzuki being a relatively new entrant into the Indian auto market wanted to shock the customers with radical styling inspired by the larger M800. Like it, hate it, the Intruder without a doubt is eye-catching.
The Intruder is a cruiser prioritising comfort that thanks to the ergonomics doubles up as a commuter as well. Albeit a new entry, the Intruder features the tried and tested 155cc engine from the Gixxer 160. The noticeable difference in the exhaust note is caused by different gear ratios. This engine generates a maximum power of 13.41 bhp @ 8000 rpm and reaches peak torque of 13.80 Nm @ 6000 rpm. The bike has a new 5-speed gearbox manual transmission. The mileage of Honda Unicorn 150 is 44 kmpl. The top speed reached by bike is 115 kmph. The only variant offered is the Suzuki Intruder 150 FI. It has a 4 stroke, FI, Petrol Engine with an engine displacement of 155 cc.
The biggest letdown of the Intruder is its weight at 152 kilograms, that hinders mileage. Yet, the cruiser styling is a major draw... It gets a telescopic fork at the front and a 7-step preload-adjustable mono-shock suspension at the rear which when coupled with 170 mm ground clearance, does well to soak up potholes and aberrations on Indian roads.
Some of the latest features of Intruder 150 are a digital instrument cluster, single-channel ABS, twin disc brakes, triangular-shaped headlamps, and a chunky rear cowl.
Suzuki Intruder Expert Review

- Stand out styling.
- Comfortable for long rides as well as commuting.
- Affordable cruiser.
Cons
- Weight and mileage below par.
- Underpowered engine, performance level below rivals
- Over styling can backfire.
How is the design of Suzuki Intruder 150?
Design is always subjective. The intruder is designed to stand out, many feel it’s overdone. The intruder is not a hit with older riders. Aimed at Indian youth, the bike is sure to grab eyeballs.
Cruisers are already a high-selling segment of the Indian automotive industry and luckily for Suzuki, there are not that many options. The puny-sized engine ensures affordability which is the Intruder’s biggest selling point against the heavier and pricier Dominars and Enfields.
Despite looking like a cruiser this bike is surprisingly agile and perfect for daily commute. Even cruisers need to do that well to succeed in the Indian market.
How does the Suzuki Intruder 150 ride?
The heavier Intruder is no Gixxer around the corners. Compared to its rivals in the cruiser segment, it is surprisingly tidy, even in the twisties. The Intruder is as comfortable as it is marketed to be. It is the best 150 for long rides. The 170 mm ground clearance coupled with adjustable mono-shock suspension at the rear ensures a smooth ride, even on bad Indian roads. The Intruder does not impress with its straight line acceleration. The heavy weight does play a role here.
One of the main reasons people choose Suzuki is for the build quality. The fit and finish live up to that expectation. This machine is built to last and will easily take a beating in its stride, long-term.
How comfortable is Suzuki Intruder 150?
Cruisers are meant to be comfortable on long rides, and Intruder sure is. But unlike the heavier Enfields and Dominars, it is way easier to manoeuvre in the city. Intruder outshines other cruisers by being a better commuter.
This smooth ride is achieved by the 170 mm ground clearance and adjustable mono-shock suspension at the rear. The Intruder gets twin discs and a longer wheelbase than the Suzuki Gixxer, which it is based on. but the Intruder does. There is a slightly raked-out front end, ensuring more comfortable ergonomics. Intruder sacrifices cornering ability in favour of a relaxed seating position.
How’s the tech?
The instrument console on the Intruder is the same unit used on the Gixxer with a digital speedometer, digital odometer, digital tachometer along with trip meter, and a digital fuel gauge.
The bike has you covered on the safety front with a single channel ABS at the front. This is more than adequate for a 155 cc. Visibility in the dark and fog is also good thanks to an all-LED headlight, taillight, and turn signals. The standard alloys and tubeless tires are also available. For better grip, Suzuki has gone with radial tyres. Engine refinement is decent, keeping with other Suzuki products. There are no vibrations felt even with higher revs.
How’s the mileage of Suzuki Intruder 150?
At 44 kmpl the mileage is decent for a 155 cc. But this is owing to the cruiser styling and the resulting heft. With a 12-litre fuel tank though, the range is not an issue.
How is the performance of Suzuki Intruder 150?
The Intruder is more than just a 150. Suzuki became popular in India due to the performance of the Gixxer 160. The same tried and trusted engine is featured albeit with a new transmission. Intruder’s acceleration is steady, the engine never feels stressed and revs up in every gear.
Head-to-head up against rivals, Intruder’s weight does hold it back. But for everyday commute, this minor dip in acceleration is not noticeable. Being a cruiserIntruder’s acceleration and cornering will disappoint those looking for a spirited ride. At 115 kmph, the Intruder’s top speed is decent if not best in class. Even on Indian highways that is adequate.
Is the Suzuki Intruder 150 good value?
BS-VI prices are inflated for bikes across segments. As a cruiser Intruder is way cheaper than the Doiminars and the Enfields, which makes it easy on the pockets for those looking for a cruiser.
For those who are not looking for a cruiser specifically, the Intruder does not justify the price tag. It is neither the fastest nor thesportiest 150 out there. Looks is another area where those who buy into its allure would not hesitate to shell out the shillings. Like Honda and Yamaha, Suzuki has its brand value, the fit and finish of Intruder along with its refined engine makes it a worthy option. The Yamahas are overpriced, another reason to go for a Suzuki.
