New-Gen Audi A5 And S5 Revealed

- The 2017 A5 Coupe gets distinctively different headlights compared to A4
- The new A5 Coupe will be more aerodynamic than the A4 sedan
- The A5 Coupe will be officially revealed on June 2 this year
The second generation of the five-door coupe features a stretched wheelbase, short overhangs, wraparound domed hood, and a single frame grille. The grille is flatter and wider than its predecessor and this brings out the character of the car.

New-Gen Audi A5 Side
The shoulder line is deeply accentuated with a protruding double crease traveling just above the door handles. The rear is shapely with the focal point being the arched luggage lid and it comes with a spoiler edge which according to the folks at Audi 'exhibits horizontal, equally highly precise styling'.
It's the cabin of the Audi A5 Sportback that we see a huge change but this is only if you compare it to its predecessor. We think that the cabin is a familiar one and carried over from the new A4 sedan, however, the new A5 has grown and how. It's now longer by 17mm, while driver and passenger's shoulder room is up 11 mm. Rear knee room has also been increased by 24mm more while the wheelbase stands at 2,824mm. As you can see the instrument panel is horizontal which also adds to the notion of increased space. There's also a 480-litre boot space which is more than what the Coupe offered (465 litres)

The A5 will be available in two TFSI (petrol) and three TDI (diesel) engines. They will produce between 190bhp and 286bhp. The most powerful version will be the S5 with its turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine that produces 354bhp which is 21bhp more than the outgoing S5. A sprint from standstill to 100km/h will take just 4.7 seconds while top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

New-Gen Audi A5
Transmission duties will be handled by a six-speed manual, seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch, and eight-speed tiptronic. New to the range is a bivalent A5 Sportback g-tron which includes a 170bhp churning 2.0-litre TFSI engine and can run on Audi e-gas, natural gas as well as gasoline.
Obviously, the g-tron will not come to India but having driven the S5 in India, we know what the car is capable of and can't wait to see the car on Indian soil.
