2020 Land Rover Defender Unveil Date Announced; Spied Sans Camouflage

The all-new Land Rover Defender has been talked about for years and we've brought you spy shots as well as teaser images of the off-roader in the past. Now, the British carmaker has released the latest teaser image and has also announced the unveiling date of the new Defender. The 2020 Land Rover Defender is scheduled to make its global debut on September 10, 2019, during the first press day of the Frankfurt Motor Show. While the teaser image gives a glimpse of the muddy grille and the 'Defender' moniker on the new model, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class rival has already been spotted completely undisguised in the latest spy images emerged online.

The Land Rover Defender bowed out of production in 2016 and it's taken a good three years for the manufacturer to bring in the all-new model. The uncamouflaged model that was spotted on the sets of the 25th James Bond movie - No Time to Die. The image reveals a great deal about the all-new SUV that retains the Defender traits well. This includes the large bonnet, upright front design, boxy silhouette, all of which are underpinned on a modern platform. The Defender prefers function over style, as it should be always.

The leaked image also gives a glimpse at the headlamp design and the LED DRL on the new Defender and an all-black paint scheme that certainly looks menacing. The 2020 Land Rover Defender is expected to be introduced in multiple iterations that will include the Defender 90, 110, and 130 versions. Depending on the variant you choose, the car will come with either five, six or eight seater configurations. The SUV will also come loaded with goodies in-line with modern-day Land Rover, so it won't be a compromise of any kind.

With respect to power, the 2020 Land Rover Defender will be offered with the 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre diesel that will be available in a number of outputs, while the 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre petrol will also be on offer from the JLR stable. The plug-in hybrid is also said to be in the works and will join the line-up. In addition, expect to see the company's Terrain Response System, 4x4, and a number of electronic aids to feature on the SUV.

Land Rover is expected to introduce the all-new Defender in the UK towards the end of the year, while other markets will start getting the model by early 2020. This is when we could see the new Defender making its way to India as well, even as the previous generation version was never sold here. Prices are expected to be around Rs. 80 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Indian market.
