2021 Skoda Kodiaq vs Toyota Fortuner: Price Comparison

The 2022 Skoda Kodiaq facelift has been finally launched in India and it's now on sale in three variants - Style, Sportline and the range-topping Laurin & Klement. Following the Volkswagen Group's new brand direction, even the Skoda Kodiaq has transitioned to a petrol only model will be sold in India only with the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder TSI petrol engine. The seven-seater SUV is being offered in India as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit and is locally assembled at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India's manufacturing facility in Aurangabad.

While traditionally, the Kodiaq would have competed with the likes of a wide range of models in India including the MG Gloster, Isuzu MU-X, and the Mahindra Alturas G4, being a petrol only model the Skoda Kodiaq now goes up only against the Toyota Fortuner which is offered in India with both diesel and petrol powertrains. Even the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace which would have been the true rival to the Skoda Kodiaq has been discontinued in India for the time being.

As already said, the Skoda Kodiaq is being offered in India in three variants and only with automatic drivetrain options. The base Style trim is priced at Rs. 34.99 lakh and is Rs. 3.6 lakh more expensive than the base MT trim of the Toyota Fortuner petrol. The range-topping L&K AWD variant of the Kodiaq is Rs. 4.51 lakh more expensive than the top-of-the-line Toyota Fortuner petrol AT. The mid-spec Sportline variant of the Kodiaq is priced at Rs. 35.99 lakh and is Rs. 1.5 lakh more expensive than the top-end Toyota Fortuner petrol AT.

The MG Gloster, Mahindra Alturas and Isuzu MU-X are offered in India as diesel-only models and still are more affordable than the Skoda Kodiaq. The base variant of the Skoda Kodiaq is Rs. 4 lakh more expensive than the base MG Gloster, Rs. 6.22 lakh more expensive than the base Mahindra Alturas G4 and Rs. 1.76 lakh more expensive than the base Isuzu MU-X.
