2022 Hyundai Tucson India Launch Details Announced

- The Hyundai Tucson is based on the third generation compact platform.

Hyundai Motor India has introduced the new generation of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson SUV in India, and it, also revealed that the flagship SUV will be launched in the country on August 4, 2022. The India-spec 2022 Hyundai Tucson is a huge step up from its older version in terms of design, styling, and features, as well as the tech, offered. But, apart from this, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson is also equipped with Level 2 Advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) features along with more than 60 features available via Hyundai Bluelink. The car will come in both petrol and diesel versions however, the transmission options are limited to automatics only. Bookings for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson will commence from July 18.

Dimensions
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is based on the third-generation compact (N3) platform with the body structure strengthened by AHSS (Advanced High Strength Steel) and HSS (High Strength Steel) application along with an extensive application of hot stamping to assure enhanced protection. The new platform has also resulted in a significant increase in the car's overall length and wheelbase, which now measures 4,630 mm and 2,755 mm respectively. Moreover, the new Tucson also offers adequate manoeuvrability with a low turning radius of 5.9 m.

Exterior
In terms of design, the new Hyundai Tucson is inspired by the company's global identity, "Sensuous Sportiness”, and looks extremely modern, and bold. The front section of the car is imposing with the help of a parametric front grille polished in dark chrome, as seen on the 2022 Hyundai Venue. The audacious fascia is further enhanced by skid plates and LED headlamps with hidden LED DRLs also finished in parametric texture. The illuminated positioning lamps complete changes to the front. In profile, the increased proportions are quite evident, but the “Z” shaped character lines exude a sporty appeal and even look aggressive.

The audacious fascia is further enhanced by skid plates and LED headlamps with hidden LED DRLs also finished in parametric texture.
The angular wheel arches, side cladding, and 235/60 R18 diamond cut alloys all combine for a sporty and dynamic look to the car while the roof rails and satin chrome DLO molding enhance the appeal. At the rear, the 2022 Tucson gets connecting LED tail lamps, a three-dimensional logo garnishes that are applied below the rear glass, a parametric pattern bumper along with concealed rear wiper with a washer. The new Hyundai Tucson also features a rear spoiler with an LED high mount stop lamp and shark fin antenna.

Tech & Interior
Inside, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson features a new layout that is quite modern with tons of new-age features minus buttons & knobs replaced by touch-enabled screens. The interior theme is complemented by a Black & Light Grey dual-tone theme and piano black dashboard with integrated silver accents on doors, while soft-touch materials add to the premium nature of the SUV. The steering wheel features a new four-spoke design. The door panels and leather seats get metal inserts while the choice of 64 ambient lighting colours can be adjusted to suit moods.

The interior theme is complemented by a Black & Light Grey dual-tone theme and piano black dashboard.
The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system enhances the appeal of the mid-sized SUV and comes equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay while the digital cluster displays personalized themes, turn-by-turn navigation, front & rear parking sensor display, Drive Mode Select (Normal/ Eco/ Sport/ Smart) and Multi-Terrain Modes (Snow/Mud/Sand). The air vents get a new design inspired by aircraft, while air conditioning is handled by dual-zone climate control. The car also comes equipped with front ventilated and heated seats.

Features
Apart from this, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson also comes with a voice-enabled panoramic sunroof, Bose premium sound 8 speaker system, powered tailgate, driver power seat memory function, electric parking brake, wireless phone charger, rain-sensing wipers, remote engine start with the smart key. For the rear seats, Hyundai is also offering a reclining function, a passenger seat walk-in device, a boot lever, and a 60:40 split-folding rear seat. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is also a connected car now and comes with more than 60 Hyundai BlueLink features that include Home-to-Car (H2C) with Alexa and Google Voice Assistant in Hindi & English, Over-the-air updates (system and map), and Valet Mode among others. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson will be offered with a 3-year free Bluelink subscription and also boasts of smartwatch connectivity for iOS, Android OS and Tizen.

With the 2022 version, the new Hyundai Tucson is now safer than before and comes with Level 2 ADAS functionality such as Forward Collision Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist for Pedestrian, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Blind-Spot Collision, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Blind-Spot View Monitor, and Safe Exit Warning. Apart from this, the car also gets Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Following Assist, High Beam Assist, Vehicle Departure Alert, Traffic Collision Warning, Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Surround View Monitor. The top-spec version would receive 6 airbags.

Engine & Gearbox
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson will be available with two engine options- a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit that develops 154 bhp and 192 Nm of torque, mated to a single 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 2.0-litre diesel meanwhile develops 184 bhp and 416 Nm, paired to an 8-speed automatic as standard. The all-wheel-drive model additionally gets terrain modes that adjust the drive to the front and rear wheels as per the requirement.
