2022 Hyundai Venue Bookings Cross 21,000; Diesel Variant In Demand

- Venue receives over 21,000 bookings since June 3
- Hyundai says a third of the bookings are for the diesel
- Company says consumer preference is moving towards pricier models
Hyundai has revealed that it is witnessing some strong demand for the Venue facelift, particularly for the diesel models. The carmaker at the time of launch had said that it had received around 15,000 bookings for its subcompact SUV, a number which has since gone up to over 21,000. The company has also revealed that about a third of these bookings are for diesel variants. Unlike its cousin, the Sonet, the Venue facelift diesel is limited to just three variants out of the six offered. Additionally, it is only available from the mid variant onwards with the lower variants only available with petrol engine options. Hyundai's numbers also reveal that despite a shift towards petrol, the SUV segments still are witnessing demand for diesel engines.

Prices for the diesel model current start at Rs 9.99 lakh and go up to Rs 12.32 lakh (ex-showroom). The diesel is only available in the S+, SX and SX(O) variants and is solely available with a manual gearbox option. The engine is the familiar 1.5-litre diesel unit from the outgoing model and develops 99 bhp and 240 Nm of peak torque.
While the petrol SUVs have seen decent demand, Hyundai says a third of the Venue bookings are for the diesel.
The Venue has gone on to become a popular SUV for Hyundai alongside the second-gen Creta. The carmaker says that the Venue accounts for about 42 per cent of Hyundai's total SUV sales in India and about 22 per cent of its overall passenger vehicle sales.

The company has also said that in recent years it has witnessed a shift in demand for its models. The company said that as much as 41 per cent of its overall sales came from cars priced above the aforementioned mark as against just 20 per cent in pre-pandemic times. The market on a whole seeming to shift more towards pricier cars with the company said that the market share of models priced upwards of Rs 10 lakh had grown from just 18 per cent in 2018 to almost 37 per cent.
The Venue facelift received a notable cosmetic makeover for 2022 replete with a new grille, new front and rear bumpers, new tail lights with a full-length light bar and alloy wheels. The cabin too moved from the all-black unit of the outgoing model to a lighter black and griege dual-tone scheme. The Venue also received a notable feature update with even more connected car features on higher models, home to car functionality, a new digital instrument cluster, powered driver seat and more.
