Audi India To Bring More Electric Vehicles This Year; Aims For 15 Per Cent EV Sales By 2025

Audi India has marked its entry into the electric vehicle space with the launch of the new Audi e-tron range. Priced between Rs. 99.99 lakh to Rs. 1.18 crore (ex-showroom, India), Audi offers both the e-tron SUV, as well as its coupe version, the e-tron Sportback. However, the Ingolstadt-based carmaker does not want to stop there, in fact, this year itself Audi India plans to bring more electric vehicles to our shores. This is part of the company's larger goal under which Audi is aiming for 15 per cent of its total sales to come from electric vehicles by 2025.

Audi India has launched three models - the e-tron 50, the e-tron 55, and the e-tron Sportback 55
Talking about the company plan for electric mobility space, post the launch of the new e-tron models, Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India told carandbike, "Our long-term perspective is by 2025 we want to achieve 15 per cent of our sales from electric vehicles. So, you can imagine within this year itself we will bring even more electric cars, you will see this in the coming months. And from now till 2025, we'll have even more cars, in electric mobility."
As of now, details regarding the upcoming EV models have not been shared, however, globally the company electric portfolio currently includes the e-tron GT and the RS e-tron GT four-door coupe sedans. The e-tron GT range comes with dual synchronous electric motors with a 93 kWh Li-ion battery and offers a maximum of about 515 bhp and 640 Nm of peak torque. It offers a range of over 400 km.

The e-Tron GT coupe sedan is mainly offered in two options - the Audi e-Tron GT quattro and a sportier, RS e-Tron GT
As for the existing Audi e-tron range - the e-tron 55 and e-tron 55 Sportback feature a 95 kWh lithium-ion battery that enables a 359-484 km range (WLTP), while the e-tron 50 features a 71kWh lithium-ion battery with 264-379 km range (WLTP). All three SUVs draw power from two electric motors, one for each axle. The electric motors offer a combined power output of 300kW or 402 bhp on the Audi e-tron 55 and Audi e-tron Sportback 55, whereas the Audi e-tron 50's electric powertrain offers 230kW or 308 bhp. Audi claims a range of 452 km on a single charge from the 95 kWh battery pack. It can be fully charged in eight and a half hours using a regular charger. The new Audi e-tron and the Sportback also get progressive steering and adaptive air suspension as standard.
