Auto Sales H1 2022: Volkswagen Registers A Sale Of 21,588 Units

Volkswagen India reported strong sales figures in the first half of the calendar year 2022. Thanks to the two models launched under Volkswagen's India 2.0 strategy - namely the Taigun compact SUV and the Virtus compact sedan - Volkswagen managed to sell 21,588 units in H1 2022. This figure saw a 101 per cent year-over-year growth, when Volkswagen managed to sell only 10,843 cars. However, it is important to note that the sales figures of H1 2021 were greatly impacted by the lockdown caused due to the global pandemic.

Speaking about the results, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “Amidst the industry challenges that are impacting the supply chain, we are witnessing a high-demand for our youngest and freshest product portfolio in the Indian market. This overwhelming response coupled with our 360 degree efforts will make 2022 a highly successful year for Volkswagen in India.”

Volkswagen also recently launched the Virus compact sedan, which saw a great response in the market which largely prefers compact SUVs over sedans. Volkswagen India announced that since launch, it has delivered over 2500 units of the compact sedan.
