- Toyota reports sales growth of 50% year-on-year
- Wholesales of 19,639 units highest ever in a month for the company
- Carmaker's next launch will be the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder
Toyota India reported a 50% year-on-year growth in wholesales for the month of July 2022 reporting sales of 19,693 units. The company said that the numbers were its highest ever in a month since it commenced operations in India and up 19% from its sales in June 2022 when it sold 16,500 units. Sales in July 2021 stood at 13,105 units.
Toyota said that its Innova Crysta and Fortuner continued to remain popular choices with buyers while the new Glanza and Urban Cruiser too were racking in the numbers. The company also said that it was seeing good demand for its yet-to-launch Urban Cruiser Hyryder with initial bookings pointing to the self-charging strong hybrid model being the more popular of the two powertrain options.

Toyota says that it continues to see good demand for the Fortuner and Innova Crysta
Atul Sood, Associate Vice President, Sales, and Strategic Marketing, TKM said, “The month of July has been phenomenal for the company. Both in terms of sales as well as our endeavour towards “mass electrification” in India, as we unveiled the first self-charging strong hybrid electric vehicle in the high-volume B SUV segment- the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The response to the model has been exceptional, especially the customer’s choice for strong hybrids, further reiterating Toyota’s global prowess when it comes to the manufacturing and sales of electrified vehicles worldwide. We are humbled by such an encouraging response and would like to thank our customers for placing their trust in the brand.”

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder is expected to launch in India in the coming weeks with the model set to go up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The model, developed under the Toyota-Maruti Suzuki partnership will be the two company’s third shared model in India with Maruti set to launch the new Grand Vitara – the Hyryder’s sister model – in the coming months. Unlike the Glanza and the Urban Crusier which are manufactured by Maruti, the Hyryder and Maruti’s Grand Vitara will be manufactured by Toyota at its plant in Bidadi.
Toyota is also expected to launch the new generation of the sub-compact Urban Cruiser this year.
