BMW Motorrad Teases R 18 Bagger; Announces Tie-Up With Marshall

BMW Motorrad has announced a new partnership with British audio company Marshall Amplification. Marshall is known for making guitar amps, but in recent years, the company has moved to producing Bluetooth speakers, headphones and home audio systems. With the new partnership, Marshall is expected to make audio systems for motorcycles, with BMW Motorrad sound systems set to get better. But the question is which BMW motorcycles will feature these audio systems. The answer lies in BMW Motorrad's statement announcing the new partnership.

Design filings of the BMW R 18B reveal a 10.25-inch TFT instrument console flanked by panels which could house the Marshall speakers. The current R 18 cruiser has an old-school analogue speedometer console with a small built-in LCD panel
According to BMW Motorrad, "the legendary Marshall spirit and development power of BMW Motorrad will in future be reflected in new innovative products for motorcycles and music, especially in the BMW Motorrad Heritage segment."

The current BMW R 18 has a single-pod instrument console which is classic styled, easy to read, and the small LCD screen give all possible information
Now, BMW Motorrad's Heritage segment currently consists of the BMW R 18 and R NineT models. But the interesting clue is that none of these have a current model which is set up for an audio system. Now, it's widely known that BMW Motorrad is looking to expand its R 18 range, with bagger and touring variants, with a bagger and a touring variant, to be called the R 18B and R 18 Transcontinental.

In fact, certification filings with the US Environmental Protection Agency revealed the R 18B and R 18 Transcontinental, with one image of the R 18B clearly showing a view of the R 18B infotainment system and dash, which shows a 10.25-inch TFT display at the centre, flanked by two panels where the speakers from Marshall are likely to be installed. More information is expected to be announced soon, including which new BMW Motorrad bikes will feature the Marshall speakers.
