BS-IV Ducati Monster 821, Scrambler, Diavel Launch Timeline Revealed
- The motorcycles were discontinued after BS-IV norms were mandated
- The BS-IV norms require an upgraded engine and auto headlamp on function
- Ducati has five more motorcycles lined up for launch in 2017
Ducati India has announced the launch timeline for its discontinued motorcycles as a result of the Bharat Stage IV (BS-IV) emission norms. The Ducati Scrambler, Monster 821 and Diavel were temporarily pulled off shelves due to non-compliance with the prescribed norms. As a result, sales were stopped post the 1st April 2017 deadline. Nevertheless, the Italian manufacturer has said that all the models will be making its way back to India starting from next month.
In a statement, Ducati India has said that the BS-IV compliant variants of the Scrambler Icon and Classic are available for booking currently, while deliveries will commence from July this year. The BS-IV Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle, on the other hand, will be available in September 2017.
Meanwhile, the Euro 4 Ducati Diavel Diesel (edition) will be available from August this year, while the standard Diavel will arrive in the country in October 2017. Lastly, the BS-IV Ducati Monster 821 will hit the Indian dealerships once again from October 2017.
The BS-IV emission norms were brought into effect from 1st April this year, which saw the complete Indian two wheeler industry upgrade its model range. Apart from the updated BS-IV compliant engine, the norms also mandate the addition of automatic headlamp on (AHO) function as standard.
Meanwhile, Ducati's other models continue sales without any issue, while the manufacturer also introduced the Monster 797 and Multistrada 950 earlier this month. The bike maker also plans to introduce more models in the country including the 2017 Monster 1200, Scrambler Cafe Racer and Desert Sled as well as the new Ducati SuperSport. The bikes will make it showrooms in the following months.
