Buying A Used Mitsubishi Pajero: What To Look Out For

- Mitsubishi tasted huge success with its Pajero SUV in India.
- The SUV is still popular with car lovers and enthusiasts.
- Should you purchase a used Pajero? Here is a lowdown.
The used car market in India contains diverse options in terms of SUVs. Some of these classic SUVs are absolutely irresistible, since they are still favorites for car lovers and enthusiasts. The Mitsubishi Pajero is one such example. Several versions of the Pajero SUV are often seen at price points ranging from Rs, 6-8 lakh or higher in the used car market. Some versions may also be available at slightly more compelling and pocket-friendly prices points. The question is, should you purchase a used Pajero SUV?

The Pajero SUV is a rugged and no-frills car that comes with a classic design along with ample reliability, courtesy of its ladder-on-frame chassis. The SUV can easily last you for several years, provided it is maintained well and serviced regularly. The Pajero can be used as an off-roading vehicle with its 4xd driving capabilities and selectable low-ratio gearing. The Pajero has suitable departure and approach angles which make it a go-anywhere vehicle.
At the same time, it is a comfortable and luxurious daily SUV which also ensures excellent highway rides. The road presence is excellent along with the butch design and massive dimensions overall. You will of course, need a skilled mechanic who can service your Pajero SUV regularly. You should keep in mind that obtaining spare parts may sometimes be quite difficult. Spare parts are rarely available and may have to be imported. You may have to wait for them to arrive, which is a time-consuming affair.
Mitsubishi does not have an extensive service and repair network in India. Support is extremely limited with a few service centres only. Finding a good mechanic who can fix issues with your Pajero is vital. Most of the Pajero models available in the used car market are extensively used, covering more than 1 lakh kilometres on average. Hence, maintenance may be considerably required for these SUVs, meaning higher costs at times.

Take your time and test-drive your Pajero SUV carefully before taking any final decision. However, if it is a reliable vehicle and comes at a reasonable price, then you may consider the same.
