Car Sales December 2021: Skoda Sees 47% Growth Over November, Reports Triple-Digit Growth In 2021

- In December 2021, Skoda sold 3,234 units in the country
- Skoda's total sales for 2021 stood at 23,858 units
- The Kushaq contributed to over 60% of Skoda's total 2021 sales
Skoda Auto India has released the monthly sales numbers for December 2021, during which the company sold 3,234 units in the country. Compare to 2,196 units sold in November 2021, the company witnessed a month-on-month growth of over 47 per cent. However, compared to 1,303 units sold in December 2020, the carmaker saw a year-on-year rise of 148 per cent, in the monthly sales volume. As for the entire 2021 calendar year, Skoda's total sales stood at 23,858 units, and compared to the 10,387 cars sold in 2020, the company saw annual growth of 130 per cent.
Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India said, "Despite the headwinds in the form of the pandemic and supply constraints that plagued the industry and economy at large, we have achieved triple-digit growth in our annual sales volumes. While we built on our product campaigns, we have maintained our sharp focus on customer centricity, expanded our customer touchpoints across the country and embraced innovative and impactful business solutions. We also unveiled the Slavia recently, and the premium mid-size sedan will further accelerate Skoda's sales growth, that has been ignited by Kushaq."

The Skoda Kushaq compact SUV has been the major contributor to the company sales in 2021. The Czech carmaker says that the Kushaq has contributed to over 60 per cent of the company's overall sales volumes for the year and over 75 per cent in the months since its launch. The Skoda Kushaq was launched in June 2021, and the company has sold 11,173 units in India. The SUV was the first model to be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform and come with a 1.0-litre TSI engine and a 1.5-litre TSI motor, with manual and automatic choices for both.

The company is right now gearing up for the launch of the new Skoda Kodiaq facelift, which will happen on January 10, 2021. It will be followed by the arrival of the Skoda Slavia, which is based on the same platform as the Kushaq and has officially replaced the Rapid sedan in India.
