Car Sales October 2021: Hyundai India Records 36.7 Per Cent Sales Decline

- Hyundai India recorded a decline of 34.6 per cent in the domestic market
- The carmaker witnessed a drop of 46.6 per cent in exports
- The sales decline is primarily attributed to the semiconductor shortage
Hyundai Motor India has recorded a sales decline of 36.7 per cent selling 43,556 units in October 2021 as compared to 68,835 units sold in the same month last year. The company sold 37,021 units in the domestic market recording a decline of 34.6 per cent when compared to 56,605 units sold a year ago. The carmaker exported 6,535 units to the overseas market as compared to 12,230 units sold in the same month a year ago, recording a year-on-year (YoY) decline of 46.6 per cent.

Hyundai Motor India recorded a huge slump in exports as well.
The decline in sales in primarily attributed to the semiconductor shortage issue that has disrupted not only the Indian auto industry, but also the entire auto sector globally. In its official statement, the company said, "The global semi-conductor supply constraint continues to be a challenge resulting in lower production across the industry." So the decline is sales is mainly because of the production cut due the semiconductor shortage issue.

Hyundai Motor India has recorded a sales decline of 34.2 per cent in the domestic market selling 33,087 units in September 2021 as compared to 50,313 units sold in the same month last year. The company's exports in the same month witnessed an uptick of 32.3 per cent at 12,704 units as compared to 9,600 units in the same month a year ago. So on month-on-month (MoM) basis, the Korean carmaker has still recorded a growth of 11.88 per cent in the domestic market.
