The Volkswagen T-ROC has won the prestigious 2021 CNB Midsize SUV of the Year Award. Launched in March 2020, it was the second product from the German carmaker after the Tiguan AllSpace. The SUV was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo last year. The Volkswagen T-ROC SUV was up against two strong contenders - the MG Hector and the Skoda Karoq, but managed to win the 2021 CNB Midsize SUV of the Year award.
The Volkswagen T-Roc comes with the 1.5-litre TSI EVO petrol engine tuned to produce 147 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired with the 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. The SUV can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 8.4 seconds and has a top speed of 205 kmph.
The T-Roc is built on VW's MQB platform. Introduced in India as a completely built unit (CBU), the competitive price worked for the company as first batch of the SUV was sold out for the year. It comes as a single, fully-loaded variant. The second batch of the T-Roc is slated to arrive soon with deliveries to begin from next month. The model has now received a price hike of ₹ 1.36 lakh over the 2020 model.
