CV Sales November 2021: Ashok Leyland's Volumes Drop 5.4% Against October; YoY Sales Drop 2%

Home-grown commercial vehicle manufacturer, Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group, has released the monthly sales numbers for November 2021. Last month, the company's total sales (Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles + Light Commercial Vehicles) stood at 10,480 units, a marginal year-on-year (YoY) decline of 2 per cent compared to the 10,659 commercial vehicles sold a year ago in November 2020. However, compared to 11,079 units sold in October 2021, the company saw a higher month-on-month (MoM) decline of 5.4 per cent.

In November 2021, the company's sales in the domestic market stood at 9,364 units, a 4 per cent decline YoY compared to 9,727 units sold during the same month a year ago. However, compared to the 10,043 vehicles sold in India in October 2021, the company saw a MoM decline of nearly 7 per cent. Last month, Ashok Leyland also exported 1,116 commercial vehicles from India, witnessing over 16 per cent growth compared to 932 units sold a year ago in November 2020.

The demand for Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCV) was high in November 2021, with the company selling 4,661 units in India, a growth of 5 per cent compared to 4,422 units sold during the same month last year. The truck sales declined by 2 per cent at 4,163 units, bus sales soared to 498 units, humungous growth of 171 per cent compared to 184 units sold a year ago. Last month the company M&HCV exports stood at 947 units, a growth of 37 per cent compared to 692 units exported in November 2020.

As for the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment, Ashok Leyland sold 4,703 units last month, an 11 per cent decline compared to 5,305 sold in November 2020. As for exports, the company sold 169 units in November 2021, a decline of nearly 30 per cent compared to 240 units exported during the same month in 2020.
