Highlights

Nissan's low-cost car brand Datsun, today, rolled out its second product, the GO+, in India. Launched in a total of four variants, D, D1, A and T, the vehicle is priced in the range of Rs 3.79 lakh - Rs 4.61 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Measuring below 4 metres in length, the GO+ becomes the country's first-ever sub-compact MPV.

If you look at the car, it largely resembles its hatchback sibling - the GO - except for the additional third row of seats for kids. The front profile of the car is exactly similar to the GO hatchback; in fact, the side profile too remains similar to the hatchback till the C-Pillar. The major changes, however, are made to the rear profile of the car.

The car measures 3995mm in length, 1635mm in width and 1490mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2450mm. With the third row of seats, which are made only for kids, the car offers a boot space of 48-litres. But it can be increased upto 347-litres by folding the third row of seats. Though the vehicle has a decent ground clearance of 170mm, 13-inch tyres still feel undersized.

Datsun GO, post failing the global NCAP crash test, was criticised for lack of safety features. Keeping that in mind Datsun India has offered driver side airbag as an option on the top-of-the-line variant.

Powering the vehicle is the same, 1.2-litre petrol, engine that does duty on the GO hatchback. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 67bhp and peak torque of 104Nm. Transmitting power to the front wheels of the car is a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine is claimed to return an impressive fuel economy of 20.62Km/l.

    Variant-wise prices of Datsun GO+ (ex-showroom, Delhi)

     GO+ D - Rs 3.79 lakh

    GO+ D1 - Rs 3.82 lakh

    GO+ A - Rs 4.15 lakh

    GO+ T - Rs 4.61 lakh
