You must have a driving license to drive a car on the roads of India. Haryana is no exception as far as the driving license is concerned. You should know about the application process for obtaining a driving license in Haryana. You should also be prepared for a couple of tests and payments of fees before you obtain a valid driving license.
A driving license is very important for a person because it entitles the person to drive a vehicle on the roads. One should carry the license in one's car or vehicle all the time because it is subject to verification or check by the transport department any time while one is driving. The process of issuing of driving license is different for different states of India.

Types of Driving License
There are different types of driving licenses in Haryana. It depends on the type of vehicle. For motorcycles with gear, there is a different category of license. If you want driving licenses for mopeds and scooters, for them there is a separate mention in the driving license and the license also is different. There is one category of all types of motorcycles with gear. If you want a license for driving a car or a jeep or a similar light vehicle, the license is for a light motor vehicle. There are different types of cars like Sedans, Hatchbacks, SUVs, etc. there are transport vehicles also for which you should apply for a separate license. There are passenger vehicles also. These are vans, buses, trucks, etc. there are other categories of vehicles also like one-seater, buggies, vehicles for disabled people, etc. A Road roller is another category.
Who can apply for a license?
You have to be eligible for applying for a license to drive. If you are 16 years of age or above, you can apply for a driving license for a vehicle of engine capacity 50 cc and below. You must be 18 years and above for driving a vehicle of the private category. If you are above 20 years of age, you can apply for a license for driving a commercial vehicle. So, age is a factor in deciding the eligibility of obtaining a driving license. You should be aware of the traffic rules. You will be tested on your knowledge of traffic lights and signs.

Learner's license in Haryana
If you want a driving license, you must first have a learner's license from the transport office. You can apply for a driving license online also. The online application saves your time and it is more convenient. You don't have to visit the transport office for purchasing the forms and submit them. It can be done from the comfort of your home.
You should visit the website of the Ministry of Road Transport. The address is parivahan.gov.in. You have to click on ‘online services'. Now, you have to click on ‘driving license related services'. You have to select the name of the state. Now, click on ‘apply online'. After this step, you should select ‘new driving license'. You have to submit the learner's driving test number and the relevant documents including your date of birth. Now, you have to select the driving test date. You should go to the transport office to verify the documents submitted. You must pass the driving test. Once you pass the test, you will be delivered the license within 7 days. If you fail to pass the test, you have the option of taking the test once again.
