Exclusive: 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 Bookings Begin In India

- The 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 will be launched in the next two months
- The Tiger 1200 gets a host of updates including new technology
- Prices are expected to be around Rs. 21 lakh for the top XCA variant
Triumph Motorcycles dealerships in India have started accepting bookings for the 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 beginning today, for an amount of Rs. 2 lakh. The Tiger 1200 will be launched sometime in late February or early March, and will feature a range of updates and will be globally available in six variants in all - four XR variants and two off-road focussed XC variants. It's highly unlikely though that Triumph will introduce all six variants in India. The other big change in the 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 is that the bike has shed a lot of weight - between 2 and 11 kg across variants.
"We have started accepting bookings of the Tiger 1200 starting today," Vimal Sumbly, Managing Director, Triumph Motorcycles India Private Limited told Carandbike on the sidelines of a new Triumph dealership launch in Gurugram today.

The 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 range gets a host of updates including a new name
The bike now loses the 'Explorer' moniker and will be known just as the Tiger 1200. The 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 will get new adaptive cornering lights, all-LED lights, an adjustable full-colour TFT screen, like the one on the Triumph Street Triple RS, illuminated switchgear, new riding modes and hill-hold control across the mid and top-spec variants. There is also integrated braking system available in a few variants, cornering ABS, shift assist, keyless ignition and an updated cruise control.
The new Tiger 1200 is powered by the same 1215 cc, in-line triple cylinder motor, but gets a few updates as well, including a lighter flywheel and crankshaft, a new magnesium cam cover, and standard Arrow exhaust on the top-end variants. The engine now makes 141 bhp at 9,350 rpm and 122 Nm of peak torque at 7,600 rpm. So far, there's no word on which variants will eventually be launched in India, but if all variants are launched, prices for the Tiger 1200 are expected to range between Rs. 17 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base XR variant to Rs. 21 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-of-the-line XCA variant.
