Exclusive: Ola Electric To Launch A Mass Market Electric Scooter On August 15

- Ola Electric will unveil a new mass market electric scooter on August 15, 2022.
- The new e-scooter is expected to have shorter range and a smaller battery.
- Price is expected to be below Rs. 1 lakh.
Just a few days ago, Ola Electric's Founder & CEO Bhavish Aggarwal teased that the EV manufacturer is launching a new product on the Independence Day, and a few days ahead of its launch, carandbike has learned that the product will be a mass market electric scooter. Sources within the company have confirmed that Ola Electric's upcoming model will indeed be an entry level electric-scooter, and it will sit below the Ola S1 Pro in pricing, with its prices expected to be below the Rs. 1 lakh mark.

Ola S1 Pro will also be available in a green shade from August 15.
Ola Electric's upcoming electric-scooter will carry over few features from the Ola S1 Pro, and will include features from the MoveOS 2.0 update too, including eco mode, cruise control, and navigation. The MoveOS 2.0 also added the music playback functionality to the Ola S1 Pro, and it remains to be seen if the new entry level scooter will get built-in speakers to make use of this feature too. Additionally, MoveOS 2.0 also unlocks the Companion app functionality, which unlocks connected features like remote access to the scooters metrics like charge status, range across multiple modes, odometer reading, as well as allows users to remotely unlock the scooter or open its boot, and this functionality is likely to be carried over to the upcoming electric-scooter too.

It is likely that the range of the e-scooter will be lower than that of the Ola S1 Pro. The electric scooter is likely to feature a smaller motor too, and in turn could be more compact and lighter than the Ola S1 Pro.
Ola Electric will also reveal an electric car concept on August 15.
Recently, the company had stated plans to expand its two-wheeler portfolio by introducing more scooters and motorcycles aimed at both premium and mass market categories. Ola Electric is also planning to showcase an all-electric concept car on August 15, 2022, as it is looking to expand into the four-wheeler market too. However, in its initial days, Ola S1 Pro was plagued with bugs and Ola Electric has only just started to get a hold of them, and it remains to be seen how reliable the company's upcoming product is. Ola Electric currently commands a 50 per cent revenue share in the entire electric two-wheeler segment in India, and its upcoming mass market electric scooter will certainly add to those those numbers, as Ola Electric targets a revenue of USD 1 billion by the end of this year.
