  • Triumph may launch the Bonneville Bobber cruiser

Triumph Motorcycles is launching a new visitor centre at the company's headquarters in Hinckley, UK. Triumph Motorcycles has already sent out an invitation and tweeted about the upcoming visitor centre at its headquarters. Also on the agenda is the launch of two new motorcycles, and we have reason to believe that one of the two new motorcycles will be a cruiser version of the Triumph Bonneville series. The Triumph Bonneville Cruiser was spotted testing a few months ago in Spain, and this could very well be one of the new models Triumph is getting ready to launch. The second model to be launched could be the new Triumph Speed Triple, which is due for an update as well.

The new Triumph cruiser motorcycle will be a two-seater version based on the single-seater Triumph Bonneville Bobber and will also share the same chassis. The engine is also expected to be the same 1200 cc parallel-twin engine as the Bonneville Bobber, which makes 76 bhp of power at 6,100 rpm and 106 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. The cruiser will get slightly different ergonomics with forward set rider footpegs and a smaller 16-inch front wheel with twin disc brakes on the front wheel. The rear sub-frame will also be different and accommodate a passenger seat and pillion back-rest.

If Triumph manages to price the new cruiser under or just around Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom) in India, the British motorcycle manufacturer's bestselling modern classic range could possibly have yet another winner, and an affordable product for cruiser lovers. Currently, Triumph does have cruisers in its multi-faceted product line-up, but the Triumph Thunderbird family range starts at Rs. 14.45 lakh (ex-showroom) with the Thunderbird Storm, while the Thunderbird LT is priced at Rs. 16.81 lakh (ex-showroom). The top of the line Triumph Rocket III is priced upwards of Rs. 20 lakh. A more affordable cruiser in the Rs. 10-11 lakh bracket could well become Triumph's latest trump card for the cruiser segment, not just for India, but for Triumph's global sales as well.
