F1: Mercedes And Hamilton Agree On Verstappen Clause

- Hamilton has negotiated a veto clause specific to Verstappen
- Verstappen is considered to be the most gifted driver after Hamilton
- Hamilton will reportedly retain his 40 million euro salary
It seems like the saga of Lewis Hamilton's elusive contract is to a close bit by bit. Reportedly, one of the sticking points of the contract, Hamilton's right to veto who his teammate is has been resolved. Hamilton has got his wish of having the opportunity to veto a signing of Max Verstappen if the Daimler owned team wanted to do so.
Hamilton reportedly will also make 40 million euros per year, in a deal which is just 1 year long with an extension as an option. Hamilton will also be able to use two advertising spaces on his helmet and overalls.

Toto Wolff, the Mercedes F1 team boss and co-owner rates Max Verstappen highly and considering his young age, he could be the right replacement for Hamilton considering he is 36 and may not be in F1 by the time the next set of engine rules are defined.
However, the explosive dutchman isn't just very talented but an abrasive character and Hamilton would do well to avoid him as a teammate.
All this cloak and dagger comes in the wake of Daimler bosses being very unhappy with Hamilton's lofty demands considering the pandemic and the job cuts the company has had to execute. Wolff's relationship with Hamilton and their record-breaking success could have played a role in the resolution. Hamilton remains the most complete driver on the grid with him now statistically the greatest.
