Ford India Reduces Price Of The Figo And Figo Aspire

While the pricing of the base variant remains unchanged, the slash in prices is seen only on the top-of-the-line Titanium and Titanium+ variants of next-gen Ford Figo and from the Trend to the Titanium+ variants of the Figo Aspire. Under the new pricing, the diesel variant of the Ford Aspire's Titanium+ variant will be available at Rs. 6.80 lakh for the petrol and Rs. 7.89 lakh for the diesel (both prices ex-Showroom Delhi) which is a massive reduction. The Titanium variant is now Rs. 91000 cheaper while the Titanium+ is Rs. 65000 cheaper (for both petrol and diesel). The Trend variant too sees a price revision and Ford has taken off Rs. 25000.

The next-gen Ford Figo too faces this cut as the top-end variant Titanium+ in petrol guise will cost Rs. 6.28 lakh (less by Rs. 30000) while the diesel comes priced at Rs. 7.17 lakh (less by Rs. 50000) (both prices Ex-Showroom Delhi). The Titanium variant of the petrol will also see a change with a reduction of Rs. 29000. The new prices are applicable with immediate effect.
Anurag Mehrotra, executive director, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India said "With the realignment of prices, Figo and Aspire are even more compelling for customers. The realignment also enhances the accessibility of these outstanding products, which offer segment-first safety features and class-leading technologies."
While we've seen car manufacturers like Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki announce a hike in prices of their respective products recently, this move from Ford certainly raises an eyebrow. While we expected a price reduction on the Ford Figo Aspire because of the arrival of the Volkswagen Ameo (priced between Rs. 5.24 - 7.05 lakh), the reduction in price of the Figo hatchback has certainly raised an eyebrow but can be attributed to the poor sales run of both cars. The Ford Figo hatchback has seen a decline in sales of upto 60 per cent from October 2015 to March 2016 while the Aspire's sales went down by 74 per cent from August 2015 to March 2016. We compare the new prices of both the cars with their rivals.
