GIIAS 2021: Honda SUV RS Concept Unveiled

- The Honda SUV RS Concept will be a Hyundai Creta rival
- The Honda SUV RS Concept will be positioned below the HR-V
- Honda hasn't confirmed if the SUV RS Concept based SUV will come to India
Honda Indonesia has taken the wraps off its new and stylish 'SUV RS' Concept at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2021. The new concept offering is expected to preview a new mid-size compact SUV that will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. In the Honda stable, the new model will be positioned below the HR-V in the brand's global line-up. The upcoming Honda SUV RS Concept-based compact SUV will be the brand's smallest yet. The concept has been developed as a collaboration between Honda R&D Asia Pacific and the Honda team in Indonesia.

The Honda SUV RS Concept made its global debut at the GIIAS 2021
The Honda SUV RS Concept looks stylish with the angular LED headlamps with DRLs, a bold and wide front grille, and a sharply-styled front bumper with a wide air intake. It also gets a skid plate and vertical slats for the foglamps. Expect a lot of this styling to make it to the production model as well, albeit in a toned-down fashion.
The profile gets accentuated wheel arches that house the large blacked-out alloy wheels. There's plastic cladding on the lower section and blacked-out pillars. The roof rails further add to the rugged look while the raked rear windscreen offers a fastback-like look. The rear is quite likeable on the concept with the split LED taillights, that look sporty, which are connected by a thin light in the centre. It also makes the rear look wider on the concept.

Honda is yet to reveal the interior or launch timeline for the production-spec version
Honda is yet to disclose the interior on the new SUV RS Concept or the powertrain options. It will be safe to say that an RS version of the SUV will be sold whenever the production version arrives. That being said, Honda is yet to confirm if the Honda SUV RS Concept model will make its way to the Indian market in the future. The company though is working on an India-specific compact SUV that is likely to arrive next year.
