Happy Birthday Ferruccio Lamborghini!

We all know what Lamborghini stands for; fast, devilish looking cars with a strong urge to slice through anything in front of them. Right from the Muira to the Huracan, every car is built to serve just one purpose - look menacing and deliver equal amount of driving pleasure.
But today we celebrate the man behind these cars, a man without whom the name itself would not exist - Ferruccio Lamborghini. It was today, 98 years ago, that this brilliant man was born in Italy. After World War II, Ferruccio started making tractors from reconfigured surplus military machines and even founded a business around it.
His business boomed and he moved on to more things like manufacturing air-conditioning, even heating systems and his success was two-fold. Obviously, he made a lot of money and this he invested in buying cars, a number of them at that. His love for luxury sports cars made him buy a Ferrari and when he faced mechanical difficulties with the car, he decided to make one of his own.
This led to the birth of Automobili Lamborghini in 1963 in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy, which till date remains its headquarters. When he started his company Ferruccio hired a former top Ferrari engineer and in the same year itself, the first car, the Lamborghini 350 GTV, made its debut.
We've told you about the logo already and you can read it here. In the early 1970s, Lamborghini's tractor business experienced problems and he eventually sold his interest in his sports car business and retired to his vineyard. Ferruccio Lamborghini died on February 20, 1993, at the age of 76 but today we remember him for his birthday. Happy birthday Ferruccio and thank you for the cars!
