Hero MotoCorp Announces Price Hike Across Two-Wheeler Range By Rs. 625

- The price hike affects all models in Hero MotoCorp's product portfolio
- This Hero MotoCorp's second price hike this year
- Hero will be launching the Xtreme 200R motorcycle next in India
World's largest two-wheeler maker, Hero MotoCorp has announced that it will be increasing prices across its complete model range in a regulatory filing. Prices on Hero two-wheelers have increased by Rs. 625, with immediate effect. The two-wheeler maker has stated that prices have been hiked to partially offset the rising input costs, including the price of commodities. The manufacturer did state that the exact quantum of the increase will vary, based on the model and the specific market. Hero's sells a host of two-wheelers priced between Rs. 37,000 going up to nearly Rs. 1 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hero's price hike comes just weeks after TVS Motor Company and Bajaj Auto revised prices across its product range in the country. That said, this is Hero's second price hike within the calendar year. The two-wheeler maker raised in prices by an average of Rs. 400 per model in January 2018. Rising input costs were cited as the reason then too, for the price hike.
Despite the price hikes, two-wheeler sales have shown steady growth overall, which has encouraged manufacturers to announce price hikes. According to date by the Society of indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), two-wheeler sales increased by 15 per cent during the last fiscal (2017-18) to cross 20 million units overall, and the growth trend is expected to continue this year as well with the inclusion of features like ABS and CBS, becoming mandatory on new vehicles.
It's likely that other manufacturers including Honda, Royal Enfield, Suzuki and Yamaha could announce price hikes across its product range. Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to introduce the Xtreme 200R in the country. The 200 cc motorcycle is the bike maker's new flagship offering in the premium commuter segment and is expected to go on sale sometime next month.
