Hero's Upcoming Scooters For India in 2015

Hero Motocorp, the world's largest two wheeler maker, has plans to launch several all new products this year. Along with launching multiple motorcycles in different segments ranging from 250cc to 600cc, the king of commuter bikes is also planing to launch several scooters in India. The company will launch four new scooters this year - Dash, Dare, ZIR and Leap - all of which were showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.
Hero's second 110cc scooter, the Dash - will be the first one among four new scooters that the company is planning to launch here. In fact, the company has already begun the production of the scooter at its Gurgaon-based plant. Powering the Dash will be a new 111cc, four-stroke, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is good for 8.5bhp and 9.4Nm. With features such as USB mobile charger, service due indicator, boot light, LED tail-lamps, analogue digital meter, key with e-code and dual tone interior, the Dash will be a feature-rich product. At its unveiling at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the company had revealed that the 110cc scooter will get an all new metal body and alloy wheels with tubeless tyres.

The Dare will be Hero's first 125cc scooter in the country. Powering this scooter will be a 125cc, air-cooled engine that churns out a maximum power output of 9.1bhp and a peak torque of 9.5Nm. Features to be offered with the Dare will be - Texture seats, dual-tone alloys, LED daytime running lamps, boot lamp, body coloured brake calipers, USB mobile charger, etc.

While with the Dare, Hero MotoCorp will enter the 125cc segment, the ZIR will mark the company's entry into the more powerful 150cc scooter segment. The closest competitor of the ZIR 150 will be the Honda PCX 150, which too will be launched within this year only. Coming to the product, the Zir will be a sporty maxi-scooter that will be offered in two variants - flat floorboard and European style step-through. It will feature a 157cc, single-cylinder, 2-valve, liquid-cooled engine that is good for 13.8bhp and 12.7Nm. Features that give it a global appeal are - European-styled step seat, dual projector head-lamps with daytime running lights, front protection screen, bright LED blinkers and tail lamp etc. The 150cc scooter will also get advanced connectivity features

First unveiled at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, the Hero Leap Hybrid will be India's first indigenous electric-hybrid scooter. The company is planning to launch it in several global markets including India, though there is no clarity on the launch timeline. It will be the Indian two-wheeler giants first product for the European market. It features an 8kW Permanent magnet AC (PMAC) motor powered by lithium-ion batteries along with a 124cc petrol unit. The most interesting part about the bike is its whooping torque output of 60Nm, thanks to the traction motor. The electronically limited speed of the Leap is 100Km/h while running with the range extender.
