- This initiative appears to be part of Honda's global recall
- The affected Honda cars were manufactured between 2019 and 2020
Honda Cars India has initiated a preventive recall for nearly 78,000 cars in India in order to change a faulty fuel pump. The company has launched a service campaign to replace fuel pumps in 77,954 Honda cars, which were manufactured between 2019 and 2020. Honda has said that the fuel pumps installed in these vehicles may contain defective impellers, which could, over time result in the engine stopping or not starting. The recall will be carried out in a phased manner starting from April 17, 2021.
Over 20,000 units of the previous-gen Honda City will be part of the new recall
Honda Cars India has also released a detailed list of all the models that will be affected by this recall, their production period and the number of units that have been fitted with the faulty fuel pump. Honda's authorised dealer partners will contact the owners of the affected vehicles individually, and the replacement of the part will be made free of cost to the customer. Honda car owners can check whether their cars are covered under this campaign by submitting their 17 character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special microsite which has been created on the company's website.
