Honda Mobilio's Mileage to Undercut Competition

Set to be unleashed in domestic market by the end of this month, the Mobilio MPV has been receiving a lot of attention for a myriad of reasons. Other than being the first MPV in India by the Japanese automaker Honda, the Mobilio will also be one of the better looking cars in its league.
What makes this offering 'conspicuous' among competition is the generous space that this vehicle proffers. Sporting a three row layout, Mobilio's USP is its third row that is said to offer ample space. In India, a vehicle's destiny is decided by two main factors: price and mileage. To the relief of Honda enthusiasts, Mobilio is claimed to return a segment best fuel economy in both, petrol and diesel guise. The petrol variants of the MPV will come powered with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that currently does duty on the new City, and is capable of producing 117bhp along with a top torque of 145Nm. The 1.5-litre petrol mill powering the petrol trims is likely to offer a fuel economy of 17.3Km/l. Also, petrol trims are likely to be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission with CVT likely to be introduced later.

Mobilio's diesel version, on the other hand, is expected to deliver a fuel efficiency of around 24.2Km/l. This is the best mileage numbers to be offered by any MPV in India yet. Under the diesel variants' hood will be a 1.5-litre i-DTEC motor that begets 99bhp and 200Nm torques. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be mated to the diesel mill that will supply power to the front wheels.
In India, the MPV will compete with the likes of Maruti Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia.
