Hot Wheels To Introduce Special Edition Scale Model

The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing remains one of the most iconic cars ever produced. Originally designed for winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Gullwing was transformed into a sports car icon for highway driving and boasted high levels of durability and ruggedness with its racing pedigree. It became an instant classic and is a prized collector's car today. While getting hands on a real example will be as rare as they come, you can get this special Hot Wheels 1:64 scale model instead that pays homage to the original car.

Mattel will be launching the 1:64 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Special Edition scale model on May 25, 2021, and the car will be exclusively available to the Hot Wheels Collectors (HWC) community. The classic edition stays as close to the original as possible. The iconic German offering was originally directed at the American market and became quite famous amongst businessmen, sportstars and celebrities. It found screen time too in several Hollywood flicks over the years.

The original 300 SL Gullwing was the fastest production car at the time with 212 bhp on tap and a top speed of 250 kmph
The Hot Wheels 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL will come with a silver-coloured chrome-plated paint job. The scale model gets the iconic opening gullwing doors and a detailed interior painted in tan. The model gets Real Riders racing wheels with red striping. Other salient bits include the authentic Mercedes-Benz logos, hand-polished chrome finish and a clear windshield. The diecast model will be shipped in an acrylic display case a tan-finished mini suitcase that adds to the style of the overall package.

Each of the special edition scale models produced will get an individually numbered sticker
Only 20,000 units of the special edition 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL scale model will be available, and HWC members can place their orders on the brand's website at a price of $29.99 (around Rs. 2,200, which does not make it back-breakingly expensive as some scale models turn out to be. Hot Wheels is offering shipping worldwide at additional charges. For all scale model enthusiasts, this would be an extremely likeable addition to their collection.
