Hyundai's Genesis Luxury Brand Roadmap Leaked; 3 New SUVs

- The roadmap showcases 2 new sedans and 3 SUVs to be launched by 2020
- There will also be a new luxury Sport SUV Coupe in the pipeline
- The Genesis G70 will be a BMW 3-Series rivaling luxury sedan
Hyundai's Genesis brand will see its sedan lineup expanding to three by 2017 with the flagship G90, the mid-size G80 that will be a Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5-Series rival; while the third model will be a smaller G70 luxury sedan that will take on the BMW 3-Series, Jaguar XE and Mercedes C-Class in the segment. The G70 was also showcased as the Genesis New York concept earlier this year at the New York International Auto Show.

Interestingly, the Genesis brand's next string of offerings post 2107 will be in the more popular luxury UV segment. The brand will add two SUVs and a Coupe SUV to its stable. While the moniker for any of these models hasn't been revealed yet, reports suggest that the flagship SUV will be around the same size as the Santa Fe, albeit with enviable amount of luxury with features likely to trickle down from the G90 sedan. The second SUV will be slightly smaller and is expected to be the same size as the outgoing Tucson. The luxury Sport Coupe will also mimic the Tucson in terms of dimensions.
Little is known about the design and powertrain for the upcoming Genesis models, but expect to see a completely new design language being adopted for the brand. The Genesis New York Concept was appreciated for its bold lines and was designed under the athletic elegance theme. Going by the concept, the Genesis could see some interesting looking models as part of its lineup.
Talking about the possible India launch, the Genesis G90 was one of the show stoppers at the Hyundai pavilion at this year's Auto Expo, but the Korean automaker has not yet finalised on introducing the brand in the country. Meanwhile, the Tucson SUV is Hyundai's next major launch this year.
