Isuzu Motors Sets Up Its First Manufacturing Facility in India

- Total investment of Rs. 3,000 crore across the combined business
- Initial production capacity of 50,000 units
- Upcoming Isuzu D-Max V-Cross will also be manufactured here
Isuzu Motors has set up its first manufacturing facility in India. The first example of the made-in-India Isuzu D-MAX V-Cross was also rolled-out at the facility located in SriCity, Andhra Pradesh. One must note, this is not the automaker's first tryst with India; it first ventured into India as a supplier of engines for the Hindustan Motors Ambassador. Now it currently retails the Isuzu MU-7 SUV along with the D-Max range of pickup trucks in the country. Isuzu will soon add the D-Max V-Cross, a personal "adventure utility vehicle", to its line-up in India.
Spread over an area of 107 acres, the facility currently offers a production capacity of 50,000 units that can be scaled up to 120,000 units. The new generation of Isuzu D-MAX pick-ups that will be manufactured at the plant will initially feature 70% localisation that will be further increased in the future.

Speaking at the plant inauguration, Mr. Masanori Katayama, President, Isuzu Motors Limited, said, "We are very happy to start our local manufacturing operations in India. India is one of the biggest automobile markets and also one of the fastest growing economies in the world. India is a key part of Isuzu Motors' global growth strategy. This new plant in India will not only cater to the requirements of the growing Indian market, but in future it will also serve as a key manufacturing hub for ISUZU's global operations."
In continuation to its operations in India, Isuzu has tied-up with 120 auto components suppliers. Out of 120, 8 suppliers have also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Andhra Pradesh to set up their respective manufacturing plants in the region.
