Jeep Wrangler Petrol Launch And Price Details Revealed

- Jeep India launched the Wrangler Unlimited and Grand Cherokee in August
- The Wrangler's petrol model will go on sale in India by December-end
- Its list of features will be similar to that of the diesel model
Jeep recently forayed into India earlier this year with the launch of the Wrangler Unlimited and the Grand Cherokee in August. While both the Jeep SUVs are currently available with only diesel engines, the impending launch of their respective petrol models had already been confirmed. We have recently learned that the American carmaker will launch the Jeep Wrangler petrol in India by December-end.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited: The SUV's petrol model will be cheaper than the diesel
Though details about the Wrangler's petrol variant are yet to be revealed, the SUV will come powered by a 3.6-litre V6 motor. The engine, paired to five-speed automatic gearbox, develops 285 horses and a maximum torque of 353Nm. Furthermore, the Jeep Wrangler petrol will be Rs. 10 lakhs cheaper than the diesel model of the SUV. Just so you know, the diesel Jeep Wrangler SUV is priced at Rs. 71.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and comes decked with a four-wheel-drive setup with diff-locks and off-road spec tyres - as noted in our review. We expect the upcoming petrol variant of the SUV to also receive a similar list of equipment and features.

Jeep Wrangler: The 3-door variation of the car is not likely to arrive in India anytime soon
It must also be noted that we had spotted the 3-door Jeep Wrangler at Fiat's facility in Ranjangaon earlier this year. Powered by the aforementioned 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine, this variation of the Wrangler SUV differs from the 'Unlimited' iteration of the carline primarily in the wheelbase department; the latter gets an extended wheelbase to fit in an extra row of seats. In reference to design and styling, the two SUVs sport an identical front - with Jeep's signature seven-slat grille, large round headlamps and beefy bumper with skid plates.
