But how surprising is that the most popular cars according to Google searches are models that were launched in previous years - the Kia Seltos, Mahindra Thar and Tata Nexon. Here's how and why these models have managed to remain up and running throughout the year.
Kia Seltos

The Kia Seltos has topped the list with over 8.20 lakh average google searches per month this year..
Well it's not at all surprising the Kia Seltos has topped the list with over 8.20 lakh average google searches per month this year. The buzz around the Kia Seltos doesn't seem to mellow down even after two years of its launch and Kia India too has made constant efforts to keep it fresh and relevant. Apart from it getting the new Kia Logo this year, the Kia Seltos also received a variant rejig and a couple of new features in 2021. Then, the new and sportier looking Kia Seltos X-Line has too built up on the excitement. No wonder why the Kia Seltos remains one of a bestselling compact SUVs in India and a constant contestant in the top 10 sales list.
Mahindra Thar

With over 6.70 average monthly searches in 2021, the Mahindra Thar remains one of the most popular SUVs in India.
When the new-generation Mahindra Thar was launched last year, we knew that the brand has a winner in its hands and we couldn't be anymore right. Despite the long waiting period on the Thar given the semiconductor shortage issue, its popularity seems to be growing by the day. And Mahindra has been witnessing fairly good response for all four iterations. In fact, with over 6.70 average monthly searches in 2021, the Mahindra Thar remains one of the most popular SUVs in India.
Tata Nexon

Even the Nexon has bagged over 6.70 lakh average google searches per month this year.
And it's a tie between the Tata Nexon and Mahindra Thar. Even the Nexon has bagged over 6.70 lakh average google searches per month this year and remains one of the most popular subcompact SUVs in India. It was the first safest subcompact SUV in our country as tested by the Global NCAP and several variants like the dark edition and Karz have built up on its popularity of late, keeping it in the news. The Tata Nexon also received a facelift last year which gave its sales a shot in the arm and even its electric version - the Tata Nexon EV has been the bestselling and most popular EV in India with around 1.80 lakh monthly google searches on an average.
