Maruti Suzuki S-Cross' Prices Slashed by Up to Rs. 2.05 Lakh

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross that was launched in August, 2015 at a starting price of Rs. 8.34 lakh, has now received a price cut of up to Rs. 2.05 lakh. Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki only recently announced a price hike across its models by up to Rs. 12,000 to offset the impact of rising costs and weakening of rupee against dollar.
About 17,000 units of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross have been sold since its launch in India, out of which 15,000 were the 1.3-litre DDiS 200 variants. At a recent event, the carmaker accepted that there was indeed a disconnect between the perception of the 2 variants of the crossover and that corrective measures (read: discounts) have been taken.
With the aforementioned discount in place, the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross' price now starts at Rs. 7.79 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs. 11.69 lakh. The company claims to have established leadership in the crossover segment with average sales of 2,500 units per month. While that statement may hold true in terms of segment, the fact remains that the Hyundai Creta is considered the S-Cross' primary rival, thanks to the price and the 1.6-litre engine option.
Considering the sales numbers, it is quite evident that the market has taken to the 1.3-litre variant of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, while the 1.6-litre variant struggles to garner numbers. The officials, however, have deemed the 1.6-litre variant as the 'aspirational' variant, that has allowed the company to establish the car in the market.

Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki plans to bring in a 'limited edition' variant of the S-Cross at the 2016 Auto Expo in February. Not much is known about the said variant for now, but we'll be sure to keep you informed.
