Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet Spotted; Debut at New Your Auto Show

If you have noticed, in the past couple of year Mercedes-Benz has been among the frontrunners in introducing most number of cars in a year. With an aim to achieve the same feat this year as well, the German carmaker is set unveil some its upcoming car for this year at the 2016 New York Auto Show this week and the new Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet will be one among these much awaited cars. Recently the car was spotted undergoing some last minute testing at Nurburgring before its official debut tomorrow, on March 23. The car could very well be among the 12 new products Mercedes-Benz plans to launch in India this year.

Talking about its design and looks, this two-door Cabriolet is a lot like the standard Mercedes-AMG C63, only with some minor tweaks to its exterior profile and the addition of a retractable soft-top roof. Judging by the spy shots we can see that the car's front fascia is a bit more aggressive now and comes with a restyle front bumper with sleeker air intakes. The car also features Mercedes' latest Multibeam headlights with sharp eyebrow like DRLS that add to its aggressive nature. Other exterior changes involve redesigned side skirts, new sporty lightweight alloys and and a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system.

The inside of the car is expected to receive the same plush and sporty treatment that all AMG models get. As for the changes over the regular model, you can expect to see modified instrument cluster and optional carbon fibre trim, sport seats and a multi-functional flat bottom steer wheel. Along with that you also have the new black soft-top retractable roof that gives the car its new identity.

Coming to the engine department, the Mercedes-AMG C63 will be powered by a 4.0-Litre V8 engine that churns out a maximum power output of 463bhp and a peak torque of 649Nm. There is also a more powerful, C63 S cabriolet that uses an upgraded V8 capable of producing 496bhp and about 700Nm of peal torque. Both the engines come mated to a seven-speed AMG Speedshift MCT transmission that helps the cars to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in roughly 4-seconds and 3.9 seconds respectively.
