Mercedes-Benz S-Class to be locally assembled

Mercedes Benz announced that it will locally assemble its flagship model, the S-Class at its plant in Chakan, Pune. The move comes after an increased demand that Mercedes received for the top-spec S500 trim which currently has a waiting period of 3 months.
The new S-Class is now available at Rs 1.36 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai), Rs. 21 lakh less than at the time of its launch in January earlier this year. The S-Class, back then, was a CBU and hence attracted a princely sum of Rs. 1.57 crore. In fact, Mercedes is also eyeing a chance to bring in the much affordable S350CDI to Indian shores.
Luxury is what the S-Class comes packed with and to continue that experience, Mercedes-Benz has also started Chauffeur Training Program which is a 21 module multi-lingual course for the drivers of the S-Class. This course focuses on training the drivers about the many features available in the car so that they can make optimum use of them and enhance the overall experience for themselves and the owner.
Eberhard Kern, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said "The S-Class has always set newer standards that have retained its accolade as "the best automobile in the world" with each generation. It truly embodies our DNA and aspiration of 'the best or nothing' in every aspect. No other car stands for Mercedes-Benz brand promise more than the S-Class and we are delighted to manufacture the new S-Class at our state-of-the art production facility in Chakan, Pune."
Bookings are now open for those seeking delivery of the car in June 2014
