Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet Revealed; Will Debut At Geneva Motor Show

Mercedes-Maybach has introduced its most unusual creation yet - the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, built on the iconic G-Class. The new G650 Landaulet comes with a longer wheelbase, soft-top roof and interior that reminds you of the S-Class along with a V12 under the hood.

Adding a all-new product to its luxurious line-up, Mercedes-Maybach has introduced its most unusual creation yet - the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet. Built on the iconic G-Class or the Gelandewagen, which itself has always managed to set itself apart from its fellow three-pointed star models, G650 Landaulet comes with a longer wheelbase, soft-top roof and interior that reminds you of the S-Class. The soft-top is something similar to what the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited gets and the body style of a vehicle similar to that of a limousine. The Landaulet nameplate belonged to some of the most luxurious models in the Mercedes-Benz portfolio in the pre-war era. Mercedes-Maybach G650 Powering this unique beast is a 6-litre V12 engine that belts out 620 bhp of max power and almost 1,000 Nm of peak torque while mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV also comes with 3 locking differentials, one each for the front axle, rear axle and the drive shaft. The portal axles have been borrowed from the G63 6x6 that give the Landaulet substantial ground clearance of 450 mm. The soft-top is basically a fabric roof that can be electrically folded and opened and the SUV runs on massive 22-inch wheels shod in chunky 325/55 R22 tires. Mercedes-Maybach G650 Rear The cabin, on the other hand, is of a different league altogether. The standard rear seat configuration has been replaced by a pair of individual massage seats borrowed straight from the S-Class providing a fully reclined position. The high-quality interior gets brown and black treatment with matching upholstery. And while the rear passengers can enjoy an open-air experience thanks to the electrically foldable fabric roof, for some extra privacy there's a glass partition separating the rear compartment from the driver's area. Mercedes-Maybach will manufacture the G650 only in limited numbers. The official launch might happen at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March 2017.
