MINI to Launch Cooper S Convertible and Clubman in India in 2016

The Auto Expo 2016 turned out to be a significant platform for BMW who launched and showcased a number of new products in India. Two of the most important launches involved the new 2016 BMW X1 and the new 7 Series along with the showcasing of the much awaited BMW-TVS single-cylinder naked motorcycle - G 310 R. It is during that time when BMW India President - Mr. Philipp von Sahr, announced the arrival of the MINI Cooper S Convertible and the Clubman.
MINI Clubman
Coming to the cars itself, the MINI Cooper S Convertible is essentially a soft-top version of the Cooper S. As the standard version, the Cooper S convertible comes in three-door trim and 4-seater configuration. Under the hood the car sports the mighty 4-cylinder MINI Twin Power Turbo engine that churns out a maximum of 190bhp while developing a peak torque of 280 Nm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission Steptronic, the enables the car to propel at a top 235 kmph, while doing a 0 -100kmph sprint in 6.8 seconds.
The MINI Clubman on the other hand is a different car altogether designed based on the MINI Cooper S. The Mini Clubman comes with new styling and an elongated body, basically a five-door wagon version of the Cooper S. The car comes with completely new front fascia that houses the new grille, new front bumper and redesigned headlamps to name a few. The rear section on the other hand comes with classic two-door boot lid and chrome handles.
As for the powertrain, the MINI Clubman uses a 1.5 Liter, 3-Cylinder MINI TwinPower Turbo engine that produces a maximum of 134bhp and a peak torque of 162 Nm. The transmission options include 6-Speed manual and 6-Speed automatic gearbox, though in India we'll only get the latter.
