New BMW M2 Coupe and X4M to Be Premiered at 2016 Detroit Motor Show

BMW is all set to complete a century in the automotive industry and for nearly 100 years the Bavarian carmaker has offered some of the most magnificent machines. To mark the centenary of its founding, BMW will hold the world premiere of two new models for the M range - M2 and X4 M40i.

    Next year German luxury carmaker, BMW is all set to complete a century in the automotive industry. For nearly 100 years the Bavarian carmaker has offered some of the most magnificent machines and to mark the centenary of its founding, BMW will hold the world premiere of two new models for the M range - M2 and X4 M40i. Both the cars will be unveiled at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) or commonly known as Detroit Motor Show, taking place from 11 - 24 January.
    BMW M2 Coupe

    Apart from these two new models, BMW will also showcase its entire BMW i range along with an array of innovative new services, covering every aspect of electric mobility. In addition BMW ConnectedDrive will be showcasing its latest range of applications and systems, such as Remote Control Parking. Along with its centenary, with these new offerings, BMW also celebrates its 40-years association with the North American Market, which is currently BMW's second-largest sales market.

    BMW X4 M40i

    Coming to the cars itself, the first one of the two new BMWs, the BMW M2 Coupe, is a compact high-performance sports car perfectly encapsulated BMW's resolution to deliver outstanding dynamics, agility and car control. The car is powered by a newly developed three-litre six-cylinder in-line engine that comes with rear-wheel drive mechanism. The engine uses BMWs state-of-the-art M TwinPower Turbo technology that is capable of delivering a maximum of 370 bhp and a peak torque of 465 Nm that can be can be increased to as much as 500 Nm in short bursts under overboost.

    BMW X4 M40i

    The engine comes mated to a 7-speed M Dual-Clutch transmission along with launch control that enables to car to do a 0 to 100 kmph sprint in flat 4.3 seconds, before reaching an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph or 270 kmph if the M Driver's Package is specified.

    On the other hand, the new BMW X4 M40i will be the newest flagship of the popular X4 range. Equipped with a sharper dynamics, distinctive looks and some highly equipment details, the new X4M moves the game in BMW's Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) segment. The new BMW X4 M40i is powered by the newly developed M performance TwinPower Turbo, 3-litre six-cylinder in-line petrol engine, which also makes its global debut along with the two new cars. The engine has been designed to churn out a maximum of 360 bhp and generates peak torque of 465 Nm that allows the new X4M to go from rest to 100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds and reach an electronically controlled top speed of 250 kmph.
