New Generation Maruti Suzuki Baleno Bags Over 25,000 Bookings, Deliveries Begin Today

The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Baleno has just been launched and prices start at Rs. 6.35 lakh (ex-showroom). The Baleno premium hatchback has received an overhaul with evolutionary styling, refined engines, better fuel efficiency and a host of new features including several segment-firsts. And now, Maruti has confirmed that the model has garnered over 25,000 bookings. Deliveries, meanwhile, begin today for the all-new offering. The Baleno continues to be a bestseller for the automaker and expectations are high from the new-generation version as well.

Maruti Suzuki says it spent about Rs. 1,150 crore on the full model change of the Baleno. The model sports LED projector headlamps and new signature LED DRLs. The model gets LED fog lamps on the top trims and there's also a new pattern for the LED taillights. The Baleno also gets the new and wider grille, while riding on 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The model measures 3990 mm in length, 1745 mm in width and 1500 mm in height. The new version is marginally shorter in terms of length and height, while the wheelbase measures 2520, the same as the predecessor.

The new-gen Maruti Suzuki Baleno will get a complete overhaul over its predecessor sporting a host of segment-first features
Inside, the cabin has seen a complete overhaul sporting a new dashboard layout. The car gets a revised dual pod instrument console with the MID unit, a larger 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ Infotainment System, a Head-up display unit, a 360-degree view camera, Suzuki Connect with 40+ connected features and more. The new-generation Baleno also gets cruise control, rear AC vents with Type A and Type C USB charging, sliding armrest for the front seats, and more. The lower variants of the Baleno get two airbags as standard, while the top trims get six airbags. Other safety features include ABS with EBD, ESP, Hill Hold Assist, seatbelt reminders, rear parking sensors, and more.

The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno is said to be 15 per cent more efficient than its predecessor. It also gains an AMT gearbox in place of the CVT
Power on the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes from the 1.2-litre K-Series DualJet, Dual VVT petrol engine with idle start-stop technology. The motor develops 89 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. Transmission choices include the 5-speed and an AMT unit. Interestingly, the CVT option has been discontinued. Maruti claims a fuel efficiency figure of 22.35 kmpl on the manual and 22.94 on the AMT version, which makes it about 15 per cent more efficient than its predecessor.
Apart from purchase, Maruti Suzuki is also offering the Baleno via its subscription program with monthly rental starting from Rs. 13,999. The leasing option bundles up all costs including vehicle usage, insurance, road tax, and maintenance under one price for the tenure of the customer's choice. Prices vary depending on the tenure chosen.
