New Jeep Grand Cherokee Spotted Testing In India Ahead Of Launch

- New Jeep Grand Cherokee India launch soon
- Will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox
- Jeep to locally assemble the new Grand Cherokee in India
It was earlier in the year when Jeep confirmed that it would be launching the new Grand Cherokee in India before the end of 2022. The SUV will be locally assembled in India with Jeep also confirming some details in regard to the vehicle’s specifications and equipment. The company has been testing the SUV on Indian roads for some time now and was recently spotted again out on test. The SUV, seen from the rear, seemed to wear minimal camouflage with only the badging being covered.

The new Grand Cherokee is based on a new platform with an evolutionary design following in line with its larger siblings. The boxy and upright proportions remain with the styling up front and at the rear in-line with models such as the more premium Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer that are also on sale in global markets.
Inside the new Grand Cherokee is loaded with tech with as many as three displays on the dashboard – a digital instrument cluster, a central touchscreen and a dedicated touchscreen for the front passenger. The Grand Cherokee is available in two model lines the five-seater standard and the three-row Grand Cherokee L though it’s only the former that will be available in India.

Unlike its predecessor, the new Grand Cherokee will be launched with just a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The unit will be paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard and four-wheel drive will also be available. In global markets the grand Cherokee is available with a line-up of powertrain options including plug-in hybrids though it remains to be seen if these options could come to India at a later stage.
