The next product from the house of Volkswagen India will be the new Vento with a 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine. To be launched on September 24, the Vento might also receive a handful of cosmetic updates, though the biggest change will be the addition of a new 1.5-litre diesel unit that currently does duty on the new Polo diesel. For people not in the know, the 1.5-litre TDI engine is the stripped down version of the old 1.6-litre diesel motor.

The new diesel engine is a 4-cylinder turbo unit that is capable of churning out 105bhp along with a peak torque of 250Nm. The diesel engine will be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission as a standard feature, while a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission will be offered as optional. So, with this, the Vento will become the second diesel automatic car in its league after the Hyundai Verna.

Petrol variants are expected to continue with the existing 1.2-litre TSI and 1.6-litre MPI engines. The 1.2-litre TSI variant is mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, while the 1.6-litre MPI engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Talking about the design changes, the new Volkswagen Vento will have a new bumper at both, the front and the rear, revised head-lamps and redesigned alloy wheels. The cabin too is expected to receive slight changes.
