Next-Gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Spotted Testing In India

- The next-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga might come sometime next year
- In terms of dimensions the new Ertiga will likely be bigger
- Maruti might introduce premium features like projector headlamps and DRLs
It's been about five years since the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the MPV, or as the carmaker likes to call it, the Life Utility Vehicle (LUV), is set to receive a generation upgrade in India. While the Ertiga received its mid-life facelift a couple of years ago, now Maruti Suzuki India, seems to be working on the next-generation Ertiga. Recently a heavily camouflaged test mule of the 7-seater MPV was spotted testing somewhere around Delhi and Gurugam and judging by the looks of it the new Ertiga will be receiving some considerable updates, both in terms of styling and features.

The next-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will come with some major updates
The silhouette of the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga appears to be pretty similar to the outgoing models but judging by the heavy camouflage and the extra faux cladding it appears that the new Ertiga will come with major upgrades. Some changes that we can see here include the new headlamps with repositioned turn indicators, possibly a new front bumper and a redesigned grille. The new Ertiga will also come with a new set of alloy wheels and larger windows for the rear doors and new ORVMs. Also, while this could be because of the additional cladding at the back the MPV looks like it has grown in size, particularly in length. The rear is not clearly visible but the car will the MPV also appears to get new taillamps.

The new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is likely to grow in terms of dimensions
It's too soon to comment on the feature list, but seeing the kind of offerings that the current-gen Maruti Suzuki cars are getting, the new-gen Ertiga is likely to come with projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, revised interior, a new dashboard with touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On the safety front, dual airbags and ABS with EBD is also expected to come as standard offerings.

Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will see no updates on mechanical front
Powertrain wise, the next-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is unlikely to see any updates and will continue to get the 1.4-litre petrol engine and tried and tested 1.3-litre DDIS diesel engine both mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The latter will continue to get the company Smart Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS) technology. While the current petrol model gets 4-speed torque converter, the new-gen model could get AMT option as well.
