Nissan Note Spotted Testing In India

- The Nissan Note is a premium hatchback
- It will be going up against Baleno, i20, Jazz etc
- No word from Nissan on whether it will bring the Note to India
The premium hatchback market in India is a growing segment for sure. Some of the big players such as Maruti, Hyundai, Honda, and Volkswagen etc. have a good presence in this particular segment. Nissan, on the other hand, has never had a premium hatchback in its portfolio for India. There might be a possibility of Nissan changing this situation. We mean to say that the Nissan Note has been spotted testing in India. The Note is a sub-four metre hatchback from Nissan which could be introduced in India and rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and so on.
(Nissan Note spotted testing in India)The model that has been spotted testing is a 'Medalist' variant, which we are guessing, is the top-spec variant which gets a bunch on premium touches such as newly designed 15-inch alloys, cosmetic updates and newly designed fog lamps as well. The rear bumper has parking sensors along with the tail-gate getting a 'Medalist' badge. The Note gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine which makes 95 bhp, which is at par with what the other models in the segment are offering.
(Nissan Note spotted testing in India)Internationally, the Note also gets an optional electric powertrain and Nissan's autonomous technology. Although, there is no confirmation or indication from Nissan India that it will launch the Note in India, we believe that the company might just bring in the Note to India as a replacement for the ageing Micra, which isn't doing great. As a footnote, Ford and Tata are also working on premium hatchbacks which should work as motivation for Nissan to get the Note to India.
