Petrol, Diesel Prices Hiked By Up To Rs. 4.10 Per Litre In One Week

With petrol and diesel prices back to regular revisions, Monday saw prices hiked for the sixth time in one week. Price for petrol was increased by 30 paise per litre while diesel got costlier by 35 paise per litre. This takes the total quantum of hike to Rs. 4.00 per litre for petrol and Rs. 4.10 per litre for diesel in the first week since price daily price revisions recommenced. Petrol in Delhi on Monday (March 28) morning stood just short of the Rs. 100 mark at Rs. 99.41 per litre. Diesel meanwhile retailed for Rs 90.77 per litre. Prices of petrol and diesel in Mumbai meanwhile at Rs. 114.19 and Rs. 98.50 per litre respectively.
Moving to the other metros, prices for petrol and diesel in Bangalore stood at Rs. 104.78 and Rs. 89.02 per litre respectively. In Chennai the price for petrol and diesel meanwhile stood at Rs. 105.18 and Rs. 95.33 per litre respectively. In Kolkata meanwhile petrol retailed for Rs. 108.85 per litre and diesel for Rs. 93.92 per litre.

Petrol and diesel prices have been on the boil ever since daily price revisions commenced on March 22 after a 100 day plus hiatus when prices were frozen in November 2021. Prices for petrol and diesel in India depend on the existing market rate for crude oil and the going exchange rate at the time. Prices are revised daily at 6 a.m. after considering these factors.
Global crude prices in recent weeks have remained volatile over the Russia-Ukraine conflict with prices currently hovering around the region of $ 120 per barrel having gone as high as $ 139 per barrel earlier this year.
