Strong Demand For Mahindra SUVs With 2.40 Lakh Open Bookings; Waiting Period To Go Up

- The XUV700 has a waiting period of up to 24 months
- The Scorpio-N has received more than 1 lakh bookings
- The Thar continues to rake it 5000 bookings per month
n the first quarter of FY23, Mahindra announced that the strong demand for SUVs continues for the brand. The company has said that it has received 1.40 lakh open bookings for its SUV portfolio, however, add the 1 lakh bookings that the Scorpio-N received in 30 minutes, then the tally goes up to 2.40 lakh. The demand across the company’s SUV portfolio has been growing every month. The XUV300 has 13000 open bookings and the company is receiving close to 6200 bookings on a monthly basis.
The Mahindra Thar has a waiting period of 7 to 8 months
The demand for the Thar continues with 25000 open bookings, but it’s the XUV700 that still attracts the most attention. According to the Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Automotive and Farm Sectors, Mahindra and Mahindra, “The XUV700 still showcases strong demand and is receiving more than 10000 bookings on a monthly basis. The overall open bookings are more than 79000 and there is less than 10 per cent cancellation on this product, which shows that customers are willing to wait for the XUV700 knowing that it will be 20-24 months before it’s delivered. This just shows that Mahindra products hold a strong value proposition.”
The Mahindra XUV700 continues to dominate the bookings table, with more than 10000 bookings every month
There are plans of course to ramp up production, but till then, customers will have to brace for long waiting periods. Currently the XUV700 has a waiting period of 20-24 months depending on the variant, the Thar too has a waiting period of 7 to 8 months. Finally, the Scorpio-N too is likely to have a long waiting as well. While the company has not yet given a timeline, it has given a monthly production number. Jejurikar elaborated saying, “The Scorpio-N deliveries will begin from September, and we are planning to delivery 20,000 vehicles this year. We are aiming for a 6000 units per month production number and of course, the ramp up will push those numbers.”
