Tesla Model S Plaid Wins In Its Class at 2021 Pikes Peak

- The modified Tesla Model S Plaid won its class at Pikes Peak
- It was a shortened race because of the weather conditions
- The overall record remains with the Volkswagen IDR
The modded Tesla Model S Plaid by Unplugged Performance driven by racing driver Randy Pobst has won the exhibition class of the 2021 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race on June 27, 2021.
Since the top half of the hill was covered by ice and snow, the race shortened but not before Tesla managed a time of 6 minutes 57.220, setting the overall P10 lap time. This was a thoroughly impressive effort.

Though the all-time record for the electric car and well, any car for that matter is held by the insane Volkswagen I.D.R with recoded 7 minutes 57.148 for the full length of the 19.99-kilometre track. There were two more Tesla vehicles in the race but both had slower times.
The modifications the Unplugged Performance made to the new 2021 Tesla Model S enabled it to scale more than 200 mph uphill. In fact. It is being reported that even the battery pack of that car isn't overheating despite the mammoth 760 kW size and it being deployed at peak capacity.
